Crocheted Stitch Sampler Blanket

Please Share the Love

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by. I've been busy working on this huge blanket for my daughter.

Her favorite color is pink but to my surprise she asked for a multi-colored blanket. Something different than the blankets I've made previously.

I knew right away that she would love, love, love a crocheted stitch sampler blanket.

Inspiration

The blanket on the right was made by Hannah at not your average crochet. Isn't it gorgeous?

I found it on Pinterest and immediately decided to make this blanket. Or something very similar.

To see the pattern and written instructions for Hannah's blanket just click on the picture.

My Crocheted Stitch Sampler Blanket

Crocheted Stitch Sampler BlanketI didn't want to completely copy Hannah's blanket so I used her instructions as a guideline.

My foundation row is 194 chains. Then I thought hmmm. Maybe I should make mine a little bigger so I added two multiples of 24.

In retrospect I should have kept to the 194. Oh well. Live and learn.

I used my favorite hook which is 5.00 mm. And I didn't go out to purchase yarn. I just used whatever I had in my stash. Which some full balls of yarn and bits and pieces from other projects.

I followed Hannah's pattern right up to the 54th row.

Instead of repeating rows 1 to 54 I continued to crochet different stitch patterns in between the dc and granny square stitch rows.

I really like the crocheted puff stitch. You can see it in the picture to the left. It is the yellow row.

I still have several rows to complete the blanket but so far my daughter is loving her new blanket.

    1. Don't be a scaredy cat. Start off with something simple and go from there. Before you know it you'll be wondering what took you so long to get started.

    1. Glad you like it Bonnie. And guess what. I only know a couple of stitches too but that's what most of the patterns are made of sc or dc. It just depends on where you place the stitch or group them.

  19. I started and tore apart Hannah's pattern twice. For some reason, everything went wrong after the catherine wheels. I counted my stitches after each row. One end of the blanket looked lovely but the other end was crooked to the point where it couldn't even be fudged a little. Now I've started another stripey blanket but I'd love to get back to this one. Any advice?

    ReplyDelete
  20. That is such a drag that you had to pull it out twice. It sounds like the catherine wheels are giving you the trouble. Did you take her advice and use a larger hook? I didn't use a larger one but I did make sure my stitches were loose. The stitches have to be loose or the edge will be uneven.

  21. I'm just learning crochet, have done a simple blanket with a giant hook an chunky yarn, but really want to learn more. I am going to have a go at one of these, I've just bought a few balls of lovely bright yarn. I am hoping it's a good way to learn a lot of stitches!
